Shooting Blanks - Rest as a Weapon

By Dewey Compton

February, 2019 blog

Have you ever considered the possibility that our adversaries are shooting blanks when they attack us? What if when we believe their lie, we re-arm the lie making it a damaging weapon? But Jesus “disarmed” the enemy.

(“Then Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner; they were his! Colossians 2:15 TPT”)

I asked the Holy Spirit about this one day. Obviously, the enemy is doing damage on the Earth. How could he be disarmed? Then this thought came to my mind: “He is shooting blanks.”

Immediately I was taken back in my memory to an experience I had while spending a week with the US Marines in San Diego, CA. We were standing by a tank listening to a weapons specialist tell us about his job. The entire time, he was tossing a tank round up in the air and catching it. Then it bounced across the tank landing next to another teacher. Gasps! “This weapon is not armed. It only becomes armed when it gets shot out of the barrel of the tank. The centrifugal force arms it on its way to the target.”

Let’s consider the next time the enemy shoots an arrow of fear at us, we choose trust instead! Or a grenade of doubt is thrown in our mind and we choose confidence instead!

Better yet, what if when we rest in what Jesus did, that becomes our weapon against the enemy? Is there a lie you have re-armed that Jesus has disarmed? When you feel under fire, remember, they are blanks. Look at Jesus instead.

My First Blog Post

My First Blog Post Wow, that took some time to set up. But it looks like I am in and ready to write. I have been writing various formats for years, but not sharing them with really anybody but a few friends. So the purpose really of setting up a blog is two-fold: I am participating in the Dan McGuire Blog Challenge through the Writers of Kern group. I'm taking the challenge to kickstart getting my writing out there. Second, I hope my writings can bring encouragement, enlightenment, teach, and promote love in the lives of anybody who reads my writings. So, what are my X Files, Writings, and Stories? X Files These are files I have collected mostly about myself. Words spoken to me by the Spirit of God, and People. These can be in the form of other writings, voices, dreams, visions, and prophecy. These are personal to me, but I may share some from time to time. Writings - These are my processes from which I will attempt to put into the words you will read that i

Psalm of Dewey

My Lord and my God, I just come before you now in the heavenly courts. I stand in front of the courtroom and I ask: Is the King meeting today to address my accuser? Is the King of Heaven having a session today on Friday, July 31st? If so, hear my plea Oh Lord: Is the liar standing before the throneroom accusing me that I am a bad father? Is the liar standing before the throneroom accusing my children of being rebellious, unloved, disobedient, prideful?  Lord, I just pray and ask, how dare he? What gives him the legal right? Did he go to the grave, dig up our dead past and bring it before You? Was he out fishing in the Eastern sea of forgetfulness for the sins you cast there? Was he in the Western sea dredging for my sunken transgressions that you buried there? How dare the graverobber come before the courts of Heaven and dump this garbage on the holy table as evidence of his accusation! That is illegal! He has no license nor permission to go against my Almighty God and Your finished wo

Mostly Dead is Slightly Alive

The Art of Dying by Dewey Compton "The old You is dead already. Embrace the real you by ignoring the old you." So what's on my mind?   Death! Here is another one of my favorite movies - The Princess Bride. I was in the shower this morning and listening to music and for some reason, I started conversing in my mind with HS about the beauty and freedom of death. Death can be looked at in many different ways and most people look at the negative side.  I find this topic very fascinating and more discussion needed today. Let me explain.  I remember in science class that a seed must go into the ground, die and then a completely new thing rises out of the ground called a plant. This plant is entirely different from the seed. One had to die in order for the other to live. This is the same with us.  Old things in us must die in order for us to truly live. Now for many, it happened when they first became a believer in Jesus. We died to our old self, o
