Shooting Blanks - Rest as a Weapon

By Dewey Compton

February, 2019 blog

Have you ever considered the possibility that our adversaries are shooting blanks when they attack us? What if when we believe their lie, we re-arm the lie making it a damaging weapon? But Jesus “disarmed” the enemy.

(“Then Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner; they were his! Colossians 2:15 TPT”)

I asked the Holy Spirit about this one day. Obviously, the enemy is doing damage on the Earth. How could he be disarmed? Then this thought came to my mind: “He is shooting blanks.”

Immediately I was taken back in my memory to an experience I had while spending a week with the US Marines in San Diego, CA. We were standing by a tank listening to a weapons specialist tell us about his job. The entire time, he was tossing a tank round up in the air and catching it. Then it bounced across the tank landing next to another teacher. Gasps! “This weapon is not armed. It only becomes armed when it gets shot out of the barrel of the tank. The centrifugal force arms it on its way to the target.”

Let’s consider the next time the enemy shoots an arrow of fear at us, we choose trust instead! Or a grenade of doubt is thrown in our mind and we choose confidence instead!

Better yet, what if when we rest in what Jesus did, that becomes our weapon against the enemy? Is there a lie you have re-armed that Jesus has disarmed? When you feel under fire, remember, they are blanks. Look at Jesus instead.

  1. The lone one open to domestic gamers, Kangwon Land, a three.5-hour drive from Seoul, raked in $1.three billion in casino revenue final year, more 1xbet korean than the 16 others mixed. The Craps sport does not require expertise to play and win, because the casino sport is determined by} luck. Unfortunately, very few online betting sites settle for the official currency of South Korea. As South Korean Won doubtless won’t be an choice if you create an account, we suggest selecting euro, as many Korean banks will not send United States dollar to e-wallets corresponding to NETELLER. South Korea is certainly one of a small number of countries in the world that differentiates Korean residents and foreigners, with vacationers welcome at land-based casinos in cities corresponding to Seoul and Kyongju. The only South Korean casino open to locals is Kangwon Land Casino, which opened its doorways in 2016.

The Prayer Sandwich

The Prayer Sandwich By Dewey Compton What if I told you there was a sandwich that is so delicious you can eat it every day, and it never gets old, stale, or moldy. In fact, it gets newer, fresher, and tastier each day. I call it the prayer sandwich. What if I told you it is God’s will for you to eat it. It comes from one of my favorite verses. I have it on the wall in my living room and every morning, I stare at it. I meditate on it. Then I read it and eat it. It is crazy how certain days it tastes very different than other days. Nonetheless, it’s always satisfying. I’ll try my best to describe what it means to eat it. But you will just have to try it for yourself to truly experience how satisfying it is. Oh and another thing, it has changed the way I pray as well. It’s a short, simple little verse, but very powerful. OK, here it is: “Rejoice always,  pray continually,  give thanks in all circumstances;  for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” I Thessaloni...

Encountering the Shepherd

Encountering the Shepherd In the process of our lives. Dewey Compton June 20, 2018 We have a bike path here in Bakersfield that many walkers, joggers, and bike riders travel for exercise. I love it for the physical exercise too, but more for the relational revelation I get. Here is one God showed me recently on multiple rides.   I saw all these sheep lying out in the open dry, dead field. Some were trying to graze on what was left growing. The others looked dead or just bored. There was no shepherd on site. I thought to myself, “Where is the shepherd? Why is he not taking care of his sheep?” This is a terrible place for them here in a dry, dead field. It’s hot, and little to no food to eat. I rode on thinking what an uncaring shepherd. Nothing like Jesus who cares for us and we know His voice.   Days later I went on another ride and said, “I wonder if these sheep are still here and if their shepherd is around and cares at all about them.” As soon as I said that, I pedaled arou...

The King and His Sons

The King and His Sons Written by Dewey Compton “ Then Jesus said to them, “If you can’t understand the meaning of this parable, how will you understand all the other parables?” Mark 4:13 Once upon a time, there was a wealthy landowner who had lots of lands. He was really a king. He wanted to give it away to some poor struggling farmers. He decided to divide this land into three equal plots. He then went searching for farmers to give this incredible gift to. He found three and said to them,  “I have parceled off some land and I am giving it to each of you. I have built each of you a home, and you can live there on your land. I will provide everything you need. At harvest time, together, we will see how much each of you has produced.” The farmers were excited. They couldn’t believe the King would give them this land and a home to make their dreams come true. It was hard for them to believe somebody would do this for them.  The first farmer was a great thinker. “Why are yo...
